Regular Cleaning: After each use, clean the butcher block surface with a mild soap and warm water solution. Wipe thoroughly with a clean, damp cloth to remove any soap residue, then dry with a soft towel. Allow any residual moisture to air dry completely before applying oil.
Apply Mystery Oil: Once a month, or as needed, apply an even coat of Boos Block® Mystery Oil to the wood surface using an applicator or soft cloth. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before application. Allow the oil to penetrate overnight, then wipe off any excess oil.
Use Board Cream: After oiling, apply Boos Block® Board Cream to seal in the oil and provide a protective barrier. Spread the cream evenly over the surface, let it absorb, and then wipe off any excess.
Avoid Excess Moisture: Do not allow liquids to pool on the surface for extended periods. Wipe up spills promptly to prevent the wood from absorbing moisture, which can lead to warping or cracking
Prevent Stains and Odors: For stubborn stains or odors, sprinkle kosher salt on the affected area and rub with a lemon quarter. Let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
Repair Minor Scratches: Lightly sand any scratches with fine-grit (#200) sandpaper, always moving with the grain. After sanding, reapply Mystery Oil and Board Cream to the affected area.
Maintain Metal Components: Regularly check and tighten any hardware on the cart. Clean metal parts with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
Use Protective Measures: Place a silicone mat or non-slip pad under the cutting board to prevent it from sliding during use.
